[ After his talk with the Chief, Brigade makes his way to a grocery store to purchase some chicken cuts and potatoes. He grabs some sausages and eggs while he's at it as well.
He takes a cab home and get back to the Leitman household a little before 5am and proceeds to work in the kitchen. He knows he's not going to be able to make anything as grand as J or Josh can, but his time back in the army did teach him how to make a decent, modest meal.
Thanks, Potato Dad. as he moves from the chicken to the potatoes. He always remembers Mason Stevenson whenever he peels and cuts potatoes. A small smile forms at the thought.
He finishes just a little before 6am and sets the dishes on the table. A hearty breakfast that looks something like these for each of them:
Once the table is set, he heads up the stairs to J's room. It was awkward at first, walking into her room while she was sleeping. He hadn't done that since she was small. He's gotten a little bit more comfortable in the past few months.
He takes a knee beside her bed and puts a hand on her shoulder, nudging her lightly. ]
Hey, princess. [ He finds himself falling back to that on the rare occasions he sees her like this. He called her that when she was young. These days that petname belongs to K. But J will always be his first little princess. ]
